A radical and unique tour de force in the world of architecture, Zaha Hadid left a legacy of buildings profoundly challenging to both the architectural elite and the simple admirer. The ‘Queen of the curve’ liberated architecture from the angular and took it into realms that seem to defy the structural laws of gravity.

Her interior work, like her buildings, was focused on the fluidity of shapes, comprising different materials to utilise light and build on the concept of motion and chaos.

Dame Zaha Hadid’s name stands amongst those of Frank Gehry, Sir Norman Foster and Jørn Utzon as award winners of the Royal Gold Medal for architecture by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
